The verse that keeps coming back…

Often times, we pick up our Bible, turn to a random scripture and begin reading. Then we take nothing from it because it has nothing to do with our current situation, or it’s not a topic we are “interested in.”

Sometimes, it takes a verse being continually thrown at us for us to really take it in.

Yep. I’m guilty.

The Sunday before our pastor went home to be with Jesus, he had a guest speaker to preach at our church, because he was just too weak to do it himself. The speaker kept saying he felt like he had preached this sermon at our church before, but God had laid it on his heart to preach it again.

God knew what we were about to go through.

The main verse he brought up was Isaiah 41:10.

“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

It’s amazing how many times this week I’ve heard this same verse from friends and family or other ministers. I’ve seen it shared on Facebook. I’ve seen it on pictures in stores and just tonight, it came up as I was studying my Bible.

Wow. I hear You, God. No matter what comes my way, I choose to trust in Your will. I choose to “Fear not.”

It’s easy to give up on God when things don’t go as we think they should. It’s easy to throw blame at Him when tragedy strikes. It’s easy to question Him on every bad day. I have definitely had my share of doubt throughout the years. But the older I get, the more I study, the more I pray, and the closer I get to Him, I’ve realized that He understands when we question Him. We are human. We get upset. Why wouldn’t we question His will?

It’s not ok to blame God for everything. It’s not ok to go astray from a Him, but it is ok to hurt. It’s ok to question His reasoning. It’s ok to wonder why He chose to answer a prayer completely opposite of how we wanted Him to.

So cry if you need to cry. Pray and ask for answers. Study your Bible for answers. Hurt. But don’t give up on God. He is the Help you are searching for. He will provide the answers and comfort you. He will wrap His loving arms around you and lift you up. He understands. He hurts when you hurt. He has a purpose for everything.

No matter what comes your way, fear not. You have a hope in Jesus. you have love and comfort. You have Help.
