Celebrating Family

Let me take a minute to brag about my sweet aunts and uncles.

First of all, tonight happened because of my aunt Becky turning 21.. again. So, happy birthday Aunt Becky!!

This is my NC family. My aunts and uncles are constantly making me laugh. They always have a good time together. They have helped me grow up knowing what a family should be. Close. Together. Happy.

Each aunt and each uncle is my favorite.. for different reasons. I love spending time with each of them. I share different hobbies and special memories with each one of them. I love having a big family!

From laughter to love, the memories are priceless and I’ve never questioned their love for me. I know without a doubt they would do anything for me.

Here are a few hobbies and memories I share with each one of them:

Aunt Becky- she is so crafty and the best decorator I know. I’ve spent countless nights at her house and had many adventures from beach trips and shopping adventure and swimming fun with her. We had a blast painting and re-doing my bedroom together when I was a teenage and I still call her for tips and ideas sometimes. Not to mention she and I spent a lot of time together planning and making flower arrangements and shopping for my wedding.

Uncle Donny- kinda like a second dad. When David is working and dad is out of town, I know I can call on him when I need anything. His hugs are always the best. I love playing games with him and have such fun memories of the week I spent with them at the beach from beating him at bowling (haha) and putt putt and tennis.. and laughing and also having devotions at night with him.

Aunt Pat- my aunt Pat has the sweetest soul. I love spending time with her. She’s a hard worker and an awesome cook. She made the best meal for us after I had Heath. We also both have the same job.

Uncle Doug- well, for starters, he was the minister that married David and I. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. My kids adore him. I love how my Clay loves him. My ol’ guitar that I love so was my uncle Doug’s.. and he’s a legend! We share a passion for music and Jesus that many don’t understand. He’s so easy to talk to. He’s such a gentle man.

Aunt Beverly- so many memories. I stayed so many full weeks or weekends with her through the years. Though she never had children of her own, all us nieces and nephews became hers. She always made our time special. She taught me how to make scrambled eggs in the microwave and how to have a good time in all things. We share the love of music. She’s always been such a strong Christian woman.

Uncle Bud- so apparently, I had a crush on uncle Bud when I was little. Honestly, I can tell you why. He’s so sweet and gentle. He would do anything for anyone. He’s so talented. When David and I first got married we didn’t have much. In the little apartment we had there was no closet space for towels in the bathroom, so he made me a little shelf, that I still have. He’s fixed things that have broken around the house for us. He loves the outdoors and animals as much as I do. He would play until he wore us out. He’s quiet, but so much fun!

Aunt Kay- she’s so fun. I used to spend weeks at a time with her when I was little. We used to play games in her pop up camper, have bonfires, and ride four wheelers (which I wrecked). She makes the best homemade salsa! She’s been so good to me and my family through the years. She is the best thanksgiving hostess I know!

Uncle Terry- all the aunts and uncles were teasing him tonight about him being the oldest, but I say his age has brought much wisdom. The thing I admire the most about my uncle Terry is his love for Jesus and how he does all things according to the word. He’s our “go-to” for political wisdom. My fondest memory is when I was a child and I was playing hide and seek with my cousins in their trailer. The windows went down to the floor and I didn’t know they were open. I hid behind the couch and when my cousin found me, it scared me and I jumped. When I did, I fell backwards out of the window, a pretty steep fall. My uncle Terry rushed out and grabbed a hysterical little me and I’ll never forget the way that man prayed over me. I felt his love for me and the Father all in one. He was genuinely concerned about me. He’s also the best hayride coordinator I know.

All of my precious aunts and uncles have a special place in my heart. I could tell countless stories and wonderful memories of them all. The most important thing is that they are the glue that holds our family together. They are all Christian men and women Who pray for our family and teach our children to love God and what it is to have loving aunts and uncles.

I’m so glad they take the time out to love my children and be great- aunts and uncles. I want my kids to know them.

I’m so thankful for them.

So, tonight, as we celebrated one aunt’s birthday, I celebrated my whole family. I am so very blessed to have each one of them in my life.

I have to say, my family is the best!!

(Yes my mom and dad are in the pics as well. They’re pretty great too, but that’s another blog in itself !!)

Blessings,

KC
